Have Questions? We have the answers!
How does the Federal Tax Credit work?
The federal solar tax credit allows eligible homeowners and businesses to claim a tax credit for a portion of the cost of installing a solar energy system. It is designed to incentivize the adoption of solar power and reduce the reliance on traditional fossil fuel-based energy sources.
Please be advised that the information provided here regarding the federal solar tax credit is based on knowledge available up until September 2023. Tax laws and regulations are subject to change, and it is essential to consult with a qualified tax professional or refer to the official guidelines provided by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels consist of multiple photovoltaic cells made of semiconductor material. When sunlight hits these cells, it excites the electrons, generating direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts this DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity for use in homes or businesses.
What is net metering?
Net metering is a billing arrangement where solar panel owners can feed excess electricity they generate back into the grid. The excess energy is credited, reducing the owner's electricity bill. This allows for a more balanced energy exchange and encourages the use of renewable energy.
